A Question for You!

Do you ever read more than one thing at a time? Have two different books in progress? Maybe one is for a book club, and one is a book you've been wanting to read for a long time.

Or maybe you started something, and then a book you were waiting for came out so you started that right away?

Right now I am reading an historical fiction novel, and doing some research for a new novel idea of my own. Switching back and forth between the French Revolution and Greek Mythology has been interesting. And then I just participated in a 30 minute writing prompt on Michelle Zink's website set in Regency England. My brain is going a little nuts with the history tonight.

How about you? What sorts of things do you read simultaneously, and how does it affect your view of those books?

I can only read one book at a time. Right now it's Across the Universe by Beth Revis. It's Good! Hope the Revolution book isn't getting you down. I'm hoping you'll post a review on it.

Shari not at all! I am really liking it! I just have really wanted to get started on this novel idea and needed to get some of my facts straight so that I could mess them up in my world in my book. ;) A review will certainly be coming!

I am not very good at reading 2 things at once, I am usually a "start and finish before you move on" sort of reader but I have had to do it for book club in the past and I usually put down the book I am in the middle of start the other & finish and then finish the one I was reading, but I don't like having to do that. I want to be able to focus on one at a time, BUT maybe my brain doesn't multi-task reading ;)

I'm not very good at reading more than one book at a time. But sometimes I do, because I read a lot on the train during my commute, and sometimes the book I am reading is too heavy. Not emotionally heavy, but physically heavy so that I'm not willing to carry it around all day! Then I bring a light paperback, and I can usually compartmentalize the two books in my mind.

Most of the time I only read one book at a time. My brain can't handle two books. Plus, switching back and forth gets me out of the groove of the book and I don't get the most out of it. But, I have done it before.
